For decades, advancement opportunities in education meant removing great teachers from classrooms and moving them into school leadership, often without proper training or support. Efforts to find hybrid roles for teachers has often meant increased workloads for little pay or financially unsustainable programs dependent on grants or temporary funding. Finding a way for teachers to make more money and advance in their careers without leaving the classroom has been a dilemma that few organizations, whether district or charter, have been able to figure out.
